  • Superhero Game

This is a fun game you can play with friends or family members, invite neighborhood kids to play. If you are  babysitter, you could play this game with the kids you are babysitting.

Your mission is to make choices that give you superpowers like strength, speed, or a happy heart. Every day you make choices about food, play, and rest that can help you grow strong or not.

    Gather these materials:

    • Markers or crayons
    • Index cards or small pieces of paper
    • A small basket or bowl

    How to play:

    • Write or draw different lifestyle choices on your index cards or small pieces of paper.
    • Include a mix of healthy and less healthy options.
    • EXAMPLES: Healthy: “Eat an apple,” “Ride a bike,” “Go to bed early,” “Drink water.” “State positive affirmations about self.” >> Less healthy: “Eat candy all day,” “Watch TV for hours,” “Stay up super late.” “Say mean things about people behind their back.”
    • You can draw pictures on the cards (like an apple or a bike) to make it fun.
    • Put the cards, or pieces of paper, in the basket or bowl.
    • When you are all done making the cards, take turns picking one.
    • For each card, ask: “Is this a superhero choice? Why or why not?”
    • Discuss how the choice helps (or doesn’t help) your body or mood.
    • FOR EXAMPLE: “Eat an apple. This gives you energy to run fast like a superhero!” >> “Watch TV for hours.  This might make you feel tired instead of super strong.”
    • If it’s less healthy, talk about a better choice you could make instead.
