  • Investigate: How Does Sleep Affect Your Mood?

Goal: See how your sleep affects how you feel during the day, how you react to different situations, and how much energy you have.

    Steps:

    1. Open and print this Sleep Log.
    2. Record what time you wake up each day, what time you go to bed, and how you felt during the day.
    3. You can even keep a sleep log for more than one month

    Observation:

Too little or inconsistent sleep often make one more emotional, less able to deal with stressful situations, and have less energy. On the other hand, consistent sleep for enough hours a night is healthy and makes one feel better.

  • Investigate: How Much Sugar Is In Your Drink?

Goal: Learn how much refined sugar is hidden in common drinks.

    Materials:

    • Empty drink bottles (soda, sports drink, juice, iced tea)
    • Bag of sugar
    • Teaspoon
    • Clear cups or small bags
    • Labels

    Steps:

    1. Look at the nutrition label and find grams of sugar.
    2. Convert grams to teaspoons (≈ 4 grams = 1 teaspoon).
    3. Measure that many teaspoons of sugar into a cup or bag.
    4. Place it next to the drink.

    Observation:

Many drinks contain 10–16 teaspoons of sugar, which can contribute to weight gain, energy crashes, that results in chronic inflammation and can lead to Type 2 Diabetes.

  • Investigate: How Sugar Affects Your Teeth

Goal: Show how refined sugar can affect teeth.

    Materials:

    • Eggs (eggshells are similar to tooth enamel)
    • Soda or sugary drink
    • Water
    • Cups

    Steps:

    1. Place one egg in soda and one in water.
    2. Leave them for 24–48 hours.
    3. Compare color, texture, and hardness.

    Observation:

The egg in soda will stain and weaken, showing how sugar and acids can contribute to Tooth Decay.
